Drumming & Rhythm Class for Wildling Families
Ages 5-18 w/ Parents
Wild Meadows is pleased to host Allison Ballard of Fort Wayne Taiko for a morning of group drumming and rhythm making in the studio. This percussion ensemble experience will use woods, shakers, bells and drums to make spontaneous music and build community. The circle will integrate taiko, a drumming and movement form based on Japanese tradition. Come explore found sound, connection and reverence through this ancient earth-based drumming culture.
This class is designed for Wildlings (ages 5-18) with parent participation & collaboration at times. Younger siblings under the age of 5 will need to be supervised but are always welcome to observe class demonstrations.
In this 1 hour studio class, we’ll explore:
various percussion instruments (including a taiko drum!)
mindful explorations of creating found sound anywhere
creation of collaborative rhythms
education around Taiko drumming history and culture
✽ All music-making materials provided. No previous experience necessary. Be prepared to be barefoot!
Registration is ONLY for students aged 5-18, parents paricipate for FREE. You can register for ONE class or ALL available dates.
psst.. Please review the cancellation policy & inherent risk & wellness policies carefully before registering for this offering.
