The Wild Meadows art studio is an in home offering, which means that our studio sits right here on our family home property.

Classes take place in a converted carriage house, situated on the back side of our .75 acre, eventually to be surrounded by gardens designed to attract pollinators, grow plants for pigments and natural fibers and to be
surrounded by trees that are older than your great grannies.

When we purchased this home in the summer of 2024 we knew we would pour love back into her. She’s an 1886, Victorian landmark, once housing some of Plainwell’s most influential families. Nestled amongst the rushing Kalamazoo river, quaint parks and nearby bustling businesses, our Historic West Bridge Street neighborhood provides endless inspiration and creative energy that comes from an alive community.

About Your Teacher –Cassie Ballard

I’ve designed compelling, yet beautiful branding campaigns, launched websites into the ethers, photographed stunning product releases, styled and collaborated on cookbook designs, yoga retreats, and even created packaging for a chocolate company in Hawaii. Yes, a chocolate company!

These days, I’m the luckiest. My job title just so happens to be “Mama”. And for your kiddos, it may be, “Ms. Cassie – Art Teacher”. Both creative endeavors provide a playground to explore the creative process and have a whole lot of fun while doing so.

Becoming a homeschooling mama of two has helped me peel back the onion layers to how children absorb and learn, exposed me to a diverse community that exemplifies empowerment and inspiration, and truly illuminated how my artistic toolbox of skills can be used to help guide those curious to find that innately wild, and creative spark within.

Throughout my life and career, two threads have been woven into my artistic tapestry; creating beautiful things with my hands and guiding people through a creative process. I’m eager to see you in the art studio and splatter some paint, weave some fibers, print some posters and get a little wild.

* Cassie received her BFA in Communication Design and Fine Arts from Purdue University in 2009. She was awarded the highest ranked portfolio in Graphic Design from her graduating class.
